Snow Tires

Today the roads were terrible.  Shanell and I drove out to Arbor Brewing Company to pick up a Flemish Noir for the New Year celebration.  The roads were slick.  I picked up a set of snow tires today.  They were in a garage for four years so I got a decent deal on them.  When I got them home, I figured out that they each had between 5-16 psi of air in them.  Luckily, I found a pump and so I pumped them full of air so that I could put them on.  After removing my wheel covers, I got a surprise.  I have wheel locks!  Lucky me.  No snow tires today.  =(  I thought about taking them off with a socket, but it would probably toast the locks and driving around with a missing lug nut on each wheel doesn’t sound like fun.  Tomorrow I’ll head up to the stealership and see if they’ll take them off for me.

Shanell got me a car stereo for Christmas.  I installed it in about eight hours.  I really hate installing those things.  The wiring was easy, but the kit the sent was a pita.  It didn’t fit right and it got rid of the stock bin underneath the stereo and replaced it with nothing.  I ended up fabricating my own mounting system by doing a ton of dremeling and using sheet metal to construct a platform.  The stereo is great though.  It has a USB port on the front where you can insert a USB stick and play mp3 files.
